Abstract

Research Title "Factors That Inhibit the Role of the Public Works Department in Accelerating the Development of Baubau City Drainage". This study aims to describe the factors that hinder the role of the Public Works Department in accelerating the drainage development of Baubau City. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method by conducting field observations, interviews with informants and collecting data from primary and secondary data. The results of this study indicate that the factors that hinder the Department of Public Works in accelerating the development of drainage in Baubau City are internal factors that play a role as a public servant, namely that the Department of Public Works has not been maximally able to provide fast services in accelerating development, such as the slow progress of drainage channels. The role as a communication tool is that there is no proper external coordination mechanism to be used by the Public Works Agency in carrying out the current coordinating task. In addition to improper coordination, the high level of activity in each implementing SKPD, and limited resources in each SKPD often make coordination difficult at the implementation level of drainage development.
