Employing a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical method, the study collected data through interviews, observation, and documentation. The informants included traditional leaders or religious figures, bhisa (ritual guides), ritual actors, and participants of Kaombo. The findings indicate that the Kaombo ritual in Lasori Village consists of three major stages: the preparatory phase, the execution phase, and the concluding phase. Moreover, the study identified significant changes in the conduct of the Kaombo ritual, which include alterations in the timing of the ceremony, modifications in traditional clothing, and the incorporation of modern elements into certain aspects of the ritual process. These transformations have led to a gradual shift in both the symbolic meaning and the structural form of the Kaombo ritual, reflecting broader sociocultural changes within the community.
Lilis Ayu Asran Abdullah Kuflia Muak Hara Copyright (c) 2025 Jurnal Sosiologi Miabhari 2025-07-31 2025-07-31 1 18 10.55340/jsm.v3i1.1913 Respon Masyarakat Terhadap Pelaksanaan Reses Anggota Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat Daerah (DPRD) Di Kecamatan Wolio Kota Baubau https://ejournal.lppmunidayan.ac.id/index.php/sosiologi/article/view/1915
This article examines the dynamics of public response to the implementation of legislative recess activities conducted by members of the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) in Wolio District, Baubau City, through the lens of social psychology. The study focuses on three interrelated aspects: citizens perceptions of the legislators motives for attending recess sessions, their attitudes toward the implementation of these sessions, and the forms of participation that emerge throughout the process. Employing a descriptive qualitative method, data were collected through in-depth interviews with residents, community leaders, and local administrative figures. The findings reveal that positive perceptions of DPRD members, particularly those who engage in open and direct communication, contribute significantly to the development of proactive attitudes and increased civic participation. Public attitudes are shaped by their evaluation of the usefulness of the recess, the quality of the communication process, and the extent to which their aspirations are acknowledged and addressed. Nevertheless, citizen participation remains limited in the early stages of planning, such as community-level deliberations, which are often perceived as exclusive and not fully accessible. Trust in the recess process is largely constructed through lived experience, social influence, and a sustained sense of political involvement. Recess sessions that lack concrete follow-up actions tend to provoke feelings of apathy among constituents. Therefore, the presence of DPRD members must be accompanied by a substantive commitment to listen actively and respond meaningfully to public concerns. This study underscores the critical importance of fostering social trust as a foundational element for meaningful political participation at the local level.
Roslina Rahim Andi Tenri Copyright (c) 2025 Jurnal Sosiologi Miabhari 2025-07-31 2025-07-31 19 36 10.55340/jsm.v3i1.1915 Partisipasi Politik Generasi Milenial Di Kota Baubau Dalam Pemilihan Umum Anggota Legislatif Tahun 2024 https://ejournal.lppmunidayan.ac.id/index.php/sosiologi/article/view/1916
This study aims to analyze the forms of political participation of the millennial generation in Baubau City during the 2024 Legislative Election and to identify the factors influencing their engagement. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with informants consisting of legislative candidates, city council members, polling station officials (KPPS), local entrepreneurs, and university students. The data were analyzed using three models of voter behavior: sociological, psychological, and rational choice. The findings reveal that millennials’ participation encompasses both electoral and non-electoral spheres, including running as legislative candidates, serving as KPPS members, participating in campaigns, engaging in political discussions, and exercising their voting rights. Media exposure—particularly through social media—and rational evaluation of candidates’ vision and mission emerged as the most decisive factors, while family influence and candidate popularity appeared comparatively weak. These findings suggest that the political behavior of Baubau’s millennial generation is increasingly driven by digital information flows and rational calculation, reflecting a form of political engagement that is critical, adaptive, and closely aligned with the dynamics of contemporary local democracy.
Yasin La Ode Munafi La Ode Abdul Rohmiati M. Employing a qualitative approach with purposive sampling techniques, data were collected through in-depth interviews with female council members, male council members, community leaders, and through documentary research. The analysis was conducted through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that women’s representation in the Buton Regency DPRD possesses considerable descriptive and symbolic significance, as evidenced by the presence of 24% female members, including a female council chair, which influences public perceptions positively and motivates greater political participation among women. Nevertheless, their substantive contribution to legislative work remains limited, as indicated by the underutilization of the right of initiative to propose gender-responsive local regulations, the low frequency of public dissemination of enacted regulations, and technical constraints such as limited budgetary resources. The primary obstacles include the low proportion of female representation, the dominance of infrastructure-related agendas promoted by male members, and the lack of training and institutional support for gender-responsive legislative capacity. These findings reinforce the view that gender-affirmative policies are insufficient if focused solely on numerical quotas and must be complemented by capacity building, structural support, and political networking. Consequently, the effectiveness of women’s roles in the Buton Regency DPRD will largely depend on the extent to which capacity enhancement and institutional reinforcement can be implemented in future terms—an issue that remains both a challenge and an opportunity for further sociopolitical inquiry.
Hasni Hasni La Parasit La Parasit Arsal La Ode Muhammad Copyright (c) 2025 Jurnal Sosiologi Miabhari 2025-07-31 2025-07-31 58 76 10.55340/jsm.v3i1.1928 Pengembangan Objek Wisata Hutan Mangrove Di Kelurahan Lakologou Kota Baubau https://ejournal.lppmunidayan.ac.id/index.php/sosiologi/article/view/1927
This study examines strategies for developing mangrove forest tourism in Lakologou Village, Baubau City, with an emphasis on integrating environmental sustainability, strengthening community social capacity, and optimizing the use of local potential. Tourism visitation data indicate that the domestic market remains dominant, while the prospect for attracting international tourists is still largely untapped. Although the Lakologou mangrove tourism area holds considerable ecological, educational, and economic value, it has yet to become a primary focus within the regional tourism policy framework. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, the research utilized observation, interviews, and documentation, with data analyzed through processes of reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. Findings reveal that the success of site management is shaped by internal factors, such as active community participation, ecological awareness, and local wisdom, as well as external factors, including governmental policy support, infrastructure availability, and human resource capacity.
Helmawan La Ode Hartini Amin Copyright (c) 2025 Jurnal Sosiologi Miabhari 2025-07-31 2025-07-31 77 93 10.55340/jsm.v3i1.1927
