Abstract

The problem in this study was whether the discovery learning model can improve social studies learning outcomes for class VIII students of SMP Negeri 1 Batauga. The purpose of this study was to find out whether the discovery learning model can improve social studies learning outcomes for class VIII students of SMP Negeri 1 Batauga. This type of research is action class research which consists of two implementation cycles. The subjects of this research were class VIII.F students of SMP Negeri 1 Batauga, which consisted of 28 people. In this study using observation instruments and learning achievement tests. The data analysis technique used is descriptive quantitative. Based on the results of the research and discussion, it can be interpreted that: learning by using the discovery learning model in social studies subjects for class VIII.F SMP Negeri 1 Batauga can improve learning outcomes. The average score achieved by students at the end of cycle II was 75.2 with a classical learning mastery of 85%.
