Abstract

Formulations of the problems in this research were : 1) whether the application of crossword puzzle could improve students ‘learning activation IPS subject at class VIIIA of MTs Swasta Waburense Mawasangka distric of ButonTengah regency: 2) whether the application of crossword puzzle could improve students’ learning outcome on IPS subject at class VIIIA of MTs Swasta Waburense Mawasangka district of Buton Tengah regency. The purpose of the research were: 1) to improve students’learning activity through crossword puzzle learning method on IPS subject class VIIIA student of MTs Swasta Waburense Mawasangka district of Buton Tengah regency: 2) to improve student’ learning outcome through crossword puzzle learning method IPS Subject class VIIIA students of MTs Swasta Waburense Mawasangka district of Buton Tengah regency. Type of the research was classroom action research. Subject of the research was class VIIIA students consisted of 20 students. Instruments used in this research were test and observation sheet. The research outcome indicated that: 1) the application of crossword puzzle learning method could improve learning activity of class VIIIA students on cycle I was 55.62 with implementation percentage was 69% and average implementation was 84%: 2) the application of crossword puzzle learning method could improve learning outcome of class VIIIA students on IPS subject of MTs Swasta Waburense with average students’ learning outcome on cycle I was 69.25 with learning completeness percentage was 70% and average students’ learning outcome on cycle II was 74.25 with the percentage of classical learning completeness was 90%.
