Abstract

The problem in this research is whether the Think Talk Write (TTW) learning model is more effective than the lecture method in terms of the social studies learning achievement of class VII students of SMP Negeri 15 Baubau on material scarcity and human needs. This study aims to find out the TTW learning model is more effective than the lecture model in terms of social studies learning achievement of class VII students of SMP Negeri 15 Baubau on material scarcity and human needs. This research is a quantitative research using quasi-experimental method. The population in this study included all grade VII students of SMP Negeri 15 Baubau in the Even Semester of the 2019/2020 Academic Year, totaling 35 students. While the sample was taken randomly so that 19 students were obtained in class VII A as the experimental class taught using the TTW learning model and class VII B, totaling 16 students, was selected as the control class taught using the lecture method. Research data collection using social studies learning achievement test instrument. It consists of an initial test (pretest) aimed at knowing the students' initial abilities and a final test (posttest) to determine the students' final abilities. The instrument used has met the valid and reliable criteria. The data were analyzed to meet the requirements in the analysis where the results stated that the data were normally distributed and the pretest data had a homogeneous variance, while the posttest data had a heterogeneous variance. Based on the results of the research data analysis, it can be concluded that the experimental class learning model and the control class method are effective in terms of social studies learning achievement but after being compared based on tcount = 7.16 2› 0.33 and sig. (2-tailed) 0.45 0.05 then Ho is rejected and Hi is accepted, meaning that the TTW learning model is more effective than the lecture method in terms of social studies learning achievement in class VII SMP Negeri 15 Baubau.
